So Long Surroundings

Well a sad day occurred not to long ago with the closing of Surroundings in Princeton. I am sorry to have lost a store front display, but must look at it as a new challenge. I am grateful for the opportunity that Julia provided for me in her store and am truly sorry to see it close.

But here is to new opportunities, and fruitful endeavors.

A Legacy

It has been an honor and privilege to spend several months photographing, then editing the photos of my father-in-laws bible. The Reverend Paul Dean Votaw has been absent from this world for several years but his presence is felt continually. With the approval from the family, his bible is ready to share as a lasting witness. There are three files to look through in the "A Legacy" tab on my website, www.bobboehmphotography.com The first is the "Cover" and the other two are Journeys through the Old and New Testaments. Long Time No Blog Post!

Wow, I really need to get better at this blog thing! A lot has happened since my last post...where to start....

Take a look through the "5030" tabs for a photos tour of Sarah and my fall trip to New England.
Had a great time at the Ladies Night Out open house in Manlius, IL in March. My second year there...Thanks all.
Several new awards & contests won...check out the "Award Winners" tab, actually, trying not to boast, but I have not listed all the awards my photos have won in this tab, many are listed within the other tabs.
New contests I have entered: "I Shot It", "National Geographic 2013 Photo Contest", just to name a couple.
Taking a couple courses through Betterphoto.com
Business is growing with a number of Senior photos this past year, (would enjoy doing more), and more Weddings booked in 2013 then ever, (very exciting), Plus a number of Commissioned Works.
Updated my operating system and software, busy learning Photoshop CS6 and Perfect Photo Suite 7.

Pears Tarnished Copper Sentinels Along The Shore

The photo on the right was taken in Hennepin, Illinois from the bank of the Illinois River at sunset on 01-14-13. It is titled "Sentinels Along The Shore", and has received "Honorable Mention" and the "Editor's Pick Award"

The photo on the left was taken on 4/7/13 at our kitchen table. I processed it Raw in Photoshop CS6, then I used the tarnished copper effect in Perfect Photo Suite 7 to get the final look that I wanted.

25th Anniversary Party

I took this phortograph last summer and have been meaning to do "something" with it. So today in the middle of everything else I opened it up in photomatrix made some tweaks, then made a couple adjustments in photoshop and onone.

I love this message and pass this "sign" almost every day on my way to and from work.Road Sign

Frozen Flowers

This project was so fun. First, in a plastic dinner plate sized container I froze a thin layer of water. Then added the flower petals and another thin layer of water. Once that was frozen I repeated the second step several times until I had a block of ice about 2 inches thick. My photo setup was outside on a sunny day. After the block of ice was removed from the container I placed it on a sheet of glass and added a light from the bottom and side. I moved around the block taking several photos with a macro lens. These are a few of my favorites.

Today I officially launched the redesign of my website. Woo Hoo! I really like the look and feel of it and hope you do to. There are a number of new features, such as prices listed within the galleries so you can see them right away. I have a new blog link that is directly through my website host, so in theory I should be posting more often. I am sure that there will be tweaks and changes in the future, but for now here it is...ta da!

I have been working on a new website design for the last few weeks. I have spent countless hours looking at the Zenfolio webbook "Creating a Photography Website that Works for You", This has been a great resource for me. In it you will find a list of 45 photographer websites that were contributors to the book. A lot of fun websites to look through, I am planning to incorporate several ideas that I picked up.
